Has a lot changed?

Posted by uacclansite on September 8, 2010 at 5:23 PM Comments comments (1)

Well, it goes with out saying that: "Yes, it has."  If nothing changed since June 15th then I'd have to say that life was lame.  Now, is it possible to list off all the changes? Of course.  Will I? Hell no.  No time for that.  Uh, actually.  There's plenty of time, but now's not the time.  That's not true either, but lets move on.

Heroes of Newerth

I'm not quite sure what has changed since the last update about HoN, but two heroes that stick out are Gladiator and Flint Beastwood.  Gladiator is a Kunnka port and Flint Beastwood is a Sniper port from DotA.  Both or excellent heroes and very enjoyable ones at that.  Now, considering the only thing I have played lately is HoN, most of the new things and such have been embedded in my mind and I've grown used to it.  Once you grow used to something you tend to forget it exists and forget the importance of it.  Maybe that's what marriage is like, but that's for later years.

Halo: Reach

The last Halo (Or so we're told) is soon to be upon us and HoN will probably have to be cast aside for a good month or so.  So will everything else for that matter.  Just when I thought I could fight Bungie's pull and story telling, I lost again.  What a bittersweet feeling.  Anyway, for you crazy bastards uh.. people... who don't know, the game is released the this following Tuesday (or Monday at midnight).  Yet again, there isn't much to say and I certainly can't provide insight on something like this.  If I find the time, I'll be sure to post what I think of the campaign as soon as I'm done.  Probably Tuesday in the afternoon because that's when I'll wake up after pulling an all nighter to beat campaign.

Summer

Well hello there, I do believe half of summer has already passed and quite a bit has occurred.  Not much going on for the UAC clan, but quite a bit for it's members.  Most, if not all, of the members (the current ones) have graduated from High School and are SO anxious to go to College.

I'm personally looking forward to it because I'll be a roomie with Derek and we are probably going to consume the most electricity in the building.  We plan on bringing Xbox, Playstation, probably Wii, a television, and I'm sure the list goes on.  But hey, when they want you to pay ten thousand dollars for housing you have to take advantage of it.

I'm not quite sure why I'm blogging about this when I could be messing around with Minecraft.  It was updated today, probably at 6:00 AM (CT) and there were a lot of tweaks for water and such.  Looking forward to it.  Since June 1st the developer of Minecraft put on his serious face so you can start expecting mass updates.

E3 is still just an event in my mind and isn't' really anything special.  I've become indifferent at the show where the top developers show off their games.  The only games that I can even get excited about are: Crysis 2, Ghost Recon Future Soldier...  and, that's about it.  "Well hey, I thought you were a mass Halo fanatic."  True, I was, but after ODST I lost my love in some deep pit of shit.  Oh, my sincerest apologies, I swore.  Some games that sparked interest were the new Metal Gear and... ah, I forget the other title.  I suggest to all those who haven't seen these games to go check it out.

Anyway, that concludes this update and I'll probably update more when I find something to actually update about.  Perhaps I'll get some guys together and start making a game mode for Garrys Mod or something.  I don't know.

Never put all your eggs in one basket.

The article this is pertaining to is here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/eu_russia_plane_crash.

I needn't say much more other than this should be a lesson learned to governments and, in general, people.  The US actually does a good job of never placing all the heads of state in one area, except for the Union address, and keep everyone distant.  The polish? They didn't do that too well.  Three mistakes were made here:  One, they were all on one plane; two, the landed when it was foggy; three, the pilot, obviously, failed to land.

"The crash devastated the upper echelons of Poland's political and military establishments. On board were the army chief of staff, the navy chief commander, and heads of the air and land forces. Also killed were the national bank president, deputy foreign minister, army chaplain, head of the National Security Office, deputy parliament speaker, Olympic Committee head, civil rights commissioner and at least two presidential aides and three lawmakers, the Polish foreign ministry said."

Well, I decided to take some time out of my remaining time to post something and keep the site alive.  I shudder as I count down the last 45... 44 minutes of time before this break comes to an end and we shall return to school.

Heroes of Newerth is a rather interesting game that, in case you don't know, is basically exactly like DotA from Warcraft III.  It has many of the same heroes, but also adds in a few new characters to the game.  It runs much nicer, the interface, even though I've heard otherwise, is relatively nice once you get used to it, and the graphics are far better.

New Heroes, old heroes, what else could you want?

Yes, the game integrated all your favorite heroes from DotA and even handed you a few extra.  The did leave some heroes out of the addition (like Sniper), but it's still good.  Pudge, Juggernaut, Clinkz... these heroes and so many more came back, some with different skills and more interesting setups.

If you're looking to play DotA, just play this

This game far exceeds what DotA accomplished and is certainly better.  It may be opinion, but if you're a DotA fan, you may as well just play this.  There are so many more features.  The additions that they've incorporated into the game are extremely useful.

Banlist?  It's part of the game

Tired of starting up, maintaining, uploading your ban list playing DotA?  Don't worry about it.  Banlist is incorporated into the game.  Ban those scrubs away!

Ventrillo?

You don't need it, the game has it's own voice chat system so you don't have to talk in vent.  The downside to this however, is that some people experience problems with vent and can't talk in vent while in the game.

The light! It burns!

The graphics are sometimes so intense that you literally can't do much.  If this is your first time playing, you will be blinded, and you will lose track of what's going on.  It's easy to lose focus and then completely get wiped.

What does this button do?

It truley is confusing.  At first, you will be so lost and so confused.  Be sure to explore the interface so that you feel comfortable with it.

In general, this hit's noobies hard.

Everything in this game is anti-noob friendly.  Noobs, chances are, will have no idea what's going on or who's doing what.  It could, at times, be overwhelming, so tread carefully.

Remember kids, don't do drugs...

Some people like to believe that drugs are fantastic and "hip" or "cool."  The reality of it is, however, you are not only dumb for trying the drugs, but you then become dumber by constant use.  Congratulations, you are now more of a retard.  But seriously, this comic depicts the pros  and the cons of drug use.

http://static.funnyjunk.com/pictures/and_then.png

The Pros:

  • You become popular with the WRONG group of people who will lead you down a pit of despair
  • You will not remember anything you have done while in the haze
  • Everything will be colorful
  • Your mother

The Cons:

  • You will become an bacon or some other form of food or some strange animal
  • You will NOT remember what you did and chances are you will have consequences
  • You will slowly kill your brain cells ->Become retarded/more retarded
  • You will lose a good chunk of your social network that could actually HELP or that you could benefit from in the future.
  • Chances are you will become depressed
  • You WILL become addicted to it
  • You will spend money on it that you could be spending on other (important) things.
  • You will probably drive your friends into doing it, because doing it by yourself is uncool
  • Then your friend goes through the entire list of cons above

There are so many MORE cons then currently visible, but just remember, it's not worth it.  This was partially for humor purposes/update purposes/serious purposes.  Just remember one thing:  "Drugs are serious business, put your serious face on."

Finally more accessible

Well, it took me about an hour to finish transferring, spell checking, grammer checking, and editing all the posts, but I finally go it done and the home page should have more of a blog feel to it.  Hopefully the pages will transfer as the blog progresses and grows.  Another thing that this allows me to do is add moderators or "editors" to the website.  Huzzah!

League of Legends

Well, school got out early for me and I couldn't wait to play some League of Legends, but as I got home, shockingly, the servers were busy.  So I entered in my "cheat codes" and entered a game anyway.  That didn't work out in the end because the teams were stacked so I refused to start that game.  I then decided on fixing the website.  Then, I decided to play a game, but then the servers were down.  As of this moment, they are still down unitl 3PM PST (Which is 5 PM over here).  Just a heads up:  I played my first normal game with Panteon was so scared that I didn't know if it was fear or if I had to go to the bathroom.  It turned out well.

The Superbowl...

Posted by uacclansite on February 9, 2010 at 4:25 PM Comments comments (0)

...has absolutely nothing to do with this update. I'm getting harassed into making another update, but it's hard to find things to talk about when so little happens.

League of Legends

After massive down time Monday, you didn't have much of a choice but think crazy things, like:  Let's play Counter Strike, let's watch super bowl commercials, I'm going to walk the dog, (and the worst one ever) how about we play some dota?  These thoughts were swarming our minds, or at least mine, and I had no peace of mind that night.  My addiction to LoL was not met, and neither was Derek's addiction (Addiction is used lightly in Derek's case).  It's a shame when you buy a hero you really wanted, play one game, and then crash and sit there, staring at a"Busy" picture of Blitzcrank.  Twas a sad day indeed.

Other

In other news, by the time you read this, there should be a new nav-bar page at the left called "About Us."  Not mentioning any names here, cough steelerz cough, ... oh, excuse me... but a certain SOMEONE felt that it would be good to have such a page.  I honestly agree, but my initial effort was to put some humor into the blog.  I hope I succeed more than once today.  Was it childish humor? Yes, but that's not the important thing.  I digress.  The "About Us" page is exactly what it sounds like it should be.  I don't see much of a reason to state anything else about it, but I can only mention that if you feel like I missed something, forgot a game, perhaps said too much, then please tell me or any other moderator (which at the moment there are none) and I shall update it.

Getting kicked down the well...

League of Legends

With the release of the new champions yesterday also came a whole lot of badass.  Both of the champions are ridiculous, if you know how to play them, and both are very difficult to kill 1v1.

Gragas

Gragas is a very ... how to put this ... well rounded character.  You can be a tank with him or you can play offensively.  I can't say offense works too well, but, at times in the game, his damage can be devastating.  I usually manage to get a few kills in on people, but at the same time keep in mind that these were "bad" people.  None-the-less, this hero is very good.  He has a big keg that, if thrown properly, can push enemies closer to towers/allies, or further from allies.

Pantheon

Tim's new favorite hero that he'll play for a month or so.  "Getting kicked down the well is the least of your worries." is the soon-to-be famous taunt.  If you didn't say: "Oh, I see what Riot did thar (there)." then you should not play him.  If you laughed at that and did NOT watch 300,then you should uninstall for a week and just sit there... pondering what you did wrong.  Anyways, Pantheon is a spartan warrior with very good skill set to back him up.  He can throw spears, which is his main harassment.  Another move allows him to leap and stun an enemy and then block the next attack.   The other one I don't find too appealing early game (get at least one level of it though), but as a passive it allows you to crit 100% of the time to an enemy that has less than 15% of his hp.  And finally, his ultimate...  it's ridiculous.  I don't think anyone in the world has leg muscles as large and strong as he does, but it literally creates the same explosion (when he lands), as the nexus blowing up.  I'm not sure if that's accurate, but it's ridiculous.  He can jump ANYWHERE on the map and also cause massive damage to surrounding heroes.

Live Stream Page

Live Stream

Something interesting that Sux0rz stumbled upon was Live Stream and you could, in case it wasn't obvious, stream your desktop/game live.  It started with Xfire, but that was an FPS killer, so a few days after Xfire he found Live Stream.  It's basically the same thing and they are close in hand together (Xfire utilizes Live Stream), however, Live Stream has a much nicer set up, menu, and functionality.  It doesn't cause massive lag during a game and you can do quite a bit more with it.  I recommend for all members to get this and message me with your channel's URL.  If you want to check it out click on "Live Stream" in the nav-bar to the left and see if anyone's doing something.  Because it makes little difference, I like to have mine running no matter what.

League of Legends

There really is nothing else to mention other than the new champions that are being released in League of Legends. One champion seems similar to the dwarf cannon team in Warcraft III and other is basically a spartan. This spartan, by the way, can leap across the map.  Talk about leg muscles.  The other, far less fit champion carries around a barrel that he can roll and detonate.  It seems very interesting, and yet totally unappealing.

Other

We need someone else to "blog" about something, because of a few things...One: No one reads this or cares... Two: No one wants to read MINE because nothing interesting is said... Three: I don't vary in the things I do, we need someone to do this about other games, etc. Message me if you want some... "permissions."

Dungeon Siege and League of Legends

League of Legends

Well, I'll start this off by saying Happy new year, and then not say anything after that.  Any who, I didn't really think about this prior to this moment and decided that I should make another pointless update.  League of Legends, for those of you who don't already know, has become our "main" game.  It seems like we often play it and that it will be like that for a long time.  However, I'm occasionally experiencing some flashbacks to DotA.  I wonder if we'll end up playing that some day soon.  Whenever that may be, I'll only realize again that the DotA community and LoL community may be different, but both are communities that I don't like.  DotA has a lot of jerks, for the sake of not using a more colorful word, and LoL seems to attract a lot of little kids and uneducated people.  It's pointless to argue to someone in LoL because they won't understand what you're saying or even reply to your comment.  The only result will be another insult that makes no sense what so ever. DotA had some good verbal arguments from time to time, but that doesn't change the fact that they are still jerks and have no reason to argue to begin with.

Well, there's not much else to say pertaining to League of Legends other than there's a new hero being released in the near future.  If you really want to know more about the hero, just visit the LoL forum page or the main website.

Dungeon Siege 2

Well, this came as a bit of a surprise at first because I didn't expect everyone to get so interested in the game.  We were at a lan and it just so happened that I decided start playing Dungeon Siege 2 (DS 2) and found it to be just as addicting as it was at the time of release.   DS 2 is an RPG and Sux0rz referred to it as an expansion to Diablo 2.  I've never played Diablo 2 and from what I heard it is 2D.  That's not the case and DS 2 is 3D.  It's a top down view and all that good stuff.  Anyway, we've been trying to play it through Hamachi and GameRanger, but to our disappointment, it's doesn't work.  (Sad face).  The game is good, however, but if you're really interested in it I wish you luck in your quest to find it in store somewhere. Gamestop only has the expansion to the DS 2 (Which makes no sense because it's not standalone).  I do recommend trying the game at least, but I'll leave that up to you.
